Getting a visa to work in Iraq - made easy

Getting a visa to work in Iraq – made easy

Once a war-ravaged region, Iraq is now a land of opportunity.
Huge amounts of growth and investment are forecast in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan over the coming years.
Multinational companies are flocking to the region to take advantage of its untapped resources, motivated workforce and vast potential.
But getting boots on the ground in Iraq isn’t straightforward. All foreign nationals need a visa to enter the country,
Thanks to an initiative launched in 2021, citizens of more than 30 countries, including the UK, can now apply for a visa on arrival at Baghdad, Najaf and Basra airports.

But to work in the country, foreigners need a work permit and an offer of employment.

Bureaucracy and security concerns mean securing a work permit can be a lengthy and complicated process, taking up to three months. Applicants must undergo security screening before their application is reviewed by the Ministry of Interior and they must finally undergo blood tests within 10 days of arrival in the country.
A partner with experience and knowledge of the system can make the process a smooth and stress-free one.
GHI is experienced in guiding applicants throughout the entire process from start to finish. We offer our clients a fully tailored service, including transportation to blood test appointments and assistance throughout the duration of their visa, right up to their departure from Iraq.
